This chef from the La Segarra area works on a balance between impeccable produce and creativity with no artifices.

Albert Ventura started out studying Law, but when he had one year to go he decided to turn his life around and move into cookery. He worked at El Celler de Can Roca, Ca l’Isidre, and also with Paco Torreblanca, Jean Luc Figueras ... and finally went back to Barcelona to start work with Jordi Vilà at Abrevadero. It was there, Ventura admits, that he became a chef.

After that, he opened his own restaurant, Coure, in Barcelona. An eatery which cares for its produce, and which Albert Ventura runs with all due loyalty to the principles of the trade. After a number of near-misses with Michelin stars, the Catalan chef decided to go his own way rather than let himself be ruled by the French guide. Ventura now also manages Coure Andorra, a gourmet restaurant at Hotel Starc**** by Pierre & Vacances Premium (Andorra la Vella)
