Ferran Adrià is the Andorra Taste Award 2025

Now in its fourth year, the award will be presented to the most influential chef of the last four decades, who is responsible for a culinary revolution that changed our understanding of gastronomy forever. Ferran Adrià.

The award recognises his career, his cultural impact, and his research work at elBulli and elBullifoundation, which has inspired generations of chefs worldwide.

Born in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, near Barcelona, Adrià was destined to become a businessman. However, his desire to earn money for a summer in Ibiza turned him into the most influential chef of all time. He started out as a dishwasher at the Playafels hotel in Castelldefels, but it was his military service in Cartagena, where he worked in the Admiral's kitchen, that led him to elBulli, where he would make his career. He joined as a chef de partie in 1984, and alongside the restaurant's director, Juli Soler, he rose to become its manager and one of the most influential figures of recent years. Among other accolades, elBulli was named the world's best restaurant five times (four times in a row — a feat never before or since achieved — in 2003 and from 2006 to 2009).

elBulli closed in 2011 to become the elBulliFoundation. Adrià recently returned to the refurbished Cala Montjoi to begin researching elBulli1846.

Leading figures on the international culinary scene have won the Andorra Taste Award, including Michel Bras, Gastón Acurio and Carme Ruscalleda.
